SACMHF Wins Small Business of the Year at the Black Talent Awards

We are delighted to share that Sandwell African Caribbean Mental Health Foundation (SACMHF) has been named Small Business of the Year at the 2026 Black Talent Awards. The award recognises our 32 years of supporting African Caribbean communities and working to improve mental health and wellbeing.

We received the award on Friday 2 October at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, after being shortlisted alongside Creative Rhino and Mahogany and Inclusion Partners. It was a proud moment for our whole team and a wonderful opportunity to see our work recognised on a national stage.

For more than three decades, we have provided culturally responsive, holistic support for people of African Caribbean and dual heritage who are experiencing mental ill health. Our services include counselling, bereaved carers support, family support and community outreach, helping people to access support that understands their experiences and cultural needs.

This achievement belongs to everyone who has been part of our journey, including our staff, volunteers, trustees, service users, families, carers, partners and supporters. Their commitment has enabled us to continue developing trusted services and making a difference across the communities we serve

Richard McDonald, a member of our Board of Trustees, said: “This award is wonderful recognition for our dedicated team and the difference SACMHF has made over the past 32 years. We are incredibly proud to see our work recognised nationally. We hope this achievement will help more people learn about the support available and encourage anyone who needs us to get in touch.”
